Plateau Management Releases V1.0 CampusRock
| Galway, IRL (25/08/2008) – Plateau Management released version 1.0 (beta) of CampusRock on August 25th, 2008. | |
CampusRock(www.campusrock.com) provides a simple to use, low cost web exchange which allows businesses to advertise and match short-term projects or assignments on demand to people resources in the academic world in a very efficient way. CampusRock also enables these resources to offer their projects and services to business. By removing the traditional red tape and delays associated with such link-ups, CampusRock opens up a whole new resource pool to businesses. |
CampusRock was developed by CEO Tim Regan, who saw an opportunity for forging stronger links between business and third level educational institutes through a market led solution. “While looking for some primary/secondary research to be completed on a health care project, I found it took several weeks just find someone who could do the work and that was in one university. In this case the research budget was €25k but the academic was not interested in the engagement as the specific subject matter was unattractive from their academic perspective. This is a familiar problem yet good insight into the gap between the value drivers which exist within academia and that of business. Rather than spend several more weeks trying to find another appropriate and (hopefully) available resource I felt there must be a better way of doing this”. Hence, CampusRock was created. |
CampusRock allows businesses to post projects directly to campus resources. Whether looking for a seasoned academic, post-graduate or undergraduate the resource can bid privately on the work. The platform is open to the global marketplace so businesses and resources have access beyond their traditional geographies. |
For business, the benefit of using a campus resource over the ‘high street professional’ is the rates are typically lower, they have access to the latest trends and publications and in most cases VAT does not apply. The benefit for campus resources is they gain remuneration and experience as knowledge providers. For students they can supplement their college costs and in the case of academic researchers supplement their income. Institutes who received payment for project work can channel remuneration towards pure research. |
Regan says “To date, through the traditional access routes, businesses have minimal opportunity to leverage the campus resource pool. CampusRock provides direct access to campus resources and opens up new possibilities in the harvesting of knowledge and supporting the creation of a true knowledge economy.” |
